About the event
From the organiser, as published on Ticketmaster.
COMPLETELY CLOSE - A POETIC CONCERT Literature should not only be read. It should be experienced.
An intimate dinner show with Mazen Ismail Completely Close is a rare opportunity to experience Mazen Ismail in completely intimate surroundings. Closer to the words.
Closer to the stories. And closer to the feelings we cannot always find words for ourselves.
In January 2026, Mazen took to the stage at the Opera House in Copenhagen, where more than 3,400 people experienced two sold-out performances in historic surroundings. Here he demonstrated how poetry can be reimagined as a modern life experience and bring together a large and diverse audience.
With Completely Close, he goes the opposite way. From the big stage to the intimate space.
Over dinner, Mazen invites guests completely into his world. Here poetry becomes not just something you listen to.
It becomes part of the encounter between people. Throughout the evening, he shares some of his strongest and most beloved poems and stories from his live performances.
With warmth, humour and honesty, he puts words to love, relationships, life and everything we carry inside us. An evening where the distance between artist and audience almost disappears.
ABOUT MAZEN ISMAIL Mazen is a poet, award-winning performer and storyteller. He is known for his ability to make great feelings present and recognisable and for creating a special connection with his audience, whether he stands before a few people or in a packed hall.
He has created Spoken Thoughts, where poetry, storytelling, performance and music melt together into one unified experience. His texts are based on lived life and revolve around the thoughts and feelings many of us know but do not always manage to put words to ourselves.
Mazen is honoured by the Danish Arts Foundation for his work with poetry and live storytelling and has established himself as a distinctive voice in Danish cultural life. With Completely Close, he returns to poetry's perhaps most simple starting point: The encounter between people.
No big stage. No distance between artist and audience.
No evening that is quite like the last one
