The group originated as a trio featuring vocalist Glenn Gregory alongside Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh, both former Human League co-founders who play synthesizers. As pioneers of the new wave and synth-pop sound, they emerged from the fertile Sheffield music scene and became key figures in electronic pop music during the 1980s and beyond.
