Concerts and live music in Denver: Red Rocks and downtown
Red Rocks Amphitheatre (18300 W Alameda Parkway, Morrison, redrocksonline.com), 9,500 seats between two sandstone monoliths, runs from April to October and is the reason touring bands route through Colorado; book the shuttle from downtown. In the city, the Fillmore Auditorium (1510 Clarkson Street) and the Mission Ballroom (4242 Wynkoop Street) in RiNo take the mid-sized tours, the Ogden and the Bluebird on Colfax the smaller ones, and the Gothic in Englewood the rest. Arena tours play Ball Arena, and the Paramount on 16th Street the seated shows.
Denver nightlife: RiNo, LoDo, Capitol Hill and South Broadway
RiNo (River North) has the breweries, the Mission Ballroom and the murals; LoDo the bars near the ballpark; Capitol Hill along Colfax the venues and dive bars; South Broadway the record shops and the Hi-Dive. Bars close at 2 a.m. The light rail runs until about 1.
