About The Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins is an American alternative rock band formed in Chicago in 1988 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billy Corgan, alongside James Iha, D'arcy Wretzky and Jimmy Chamberlin. Known for their diverse, densely layered sound, the band has integrated elements ranging from gothic rock and heavy metal to grunge, psychedelic rock, progressive rock, shoegaze, dream pop and electronica throughout their career. Following their reunion in 2006, the band has undergone several line-up changes, with Corgan remaining the primary songwriter and sole constant member, currently performing with Iha and Chamberlin.
