What to expect
Sibelius + Prokofiev is a symphonic show at Atlanta Symphony Hall, 0.5 mi from the center of Atlanta. It is a good pick for a night at the theater. Doors open at 19:30, so arriving a little early gets you settled before it starts at 20:00. If you want to make a night of it, 3 other events are on in Atlanta the same day.
About the event
From the organizer, as published on Ticketmaster.
The young Israeli firebrand Tom Borrow tackles Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2, a witty and dramatic odyssey for piano and orchestra, widely regarded as one of the most difficult piano concertos in the repertoire. Conductor Hannu Lintu opens the concert with a musical mosaic spotlighting the orchestra's exceptional wind and brass choirs, and then leans into the ASO's extraordinary capacity for nuance and subtlety in a spooky work by Kaija Saariaho.
The evening comes to a close with a stunning work by Jean Sibelius, the wonderfully atmospheric Symphony No. 7.
