About Shalamar
Shalamar is an American R&B and soul vocal group created by Dick Griffey and Don Cornelius in 1977. The classic lineup featured Howard Hewett, Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniel on the SOLAR label. Originally a disco-driven group, Shalamar became prominent throughout the 1980s, building on their foundation as a project developed by the Soul Train booking agent and show creator.
