Canadian-Colombian artist Lido Pimienta is an unforgettable live artist, and one of the most adventurous and ambitious young pop artists we have today. On each album she ventures into unknown territory, combining inspiration from the whole art world with a keen eye for what's happening in pop and club music.

Lido Pimienta was supposed to perform at Oslo World a few years ago, but the concert was cancelled. At that time she had released the album that became her definitive breakthrough.

On the album her changeable voice and exploratory drive come through clearly -- and she combines her family's roots in Afro-Colombian and indigenous Wayuu communities with an ambitious soundscape -- packed with beats from all over the world, lush synths and pop hooks. The album was nominated for a Grammy.

Since then things have happened -- on the follow-up she tackled European classical music. Pimienta drew inspiration from Gregorian chant and castrato singing from the sixteenth century, and mixed it with modern recording techniques.

The result was a shamelessly ambitious combination of orchestral splendour and personal storytelling. It was presented as an ode to beauty in all its forms. says Pimienta.

The quote sums up her career brilliantly -- Lido Pimienta is an artist in constant motion. Just expect the unexpected -- she will not disappoint you.
