About the event

From the organiser, as published on Ticketmaster.

The Helsinki Oratorio Choir performs Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem in collaboration with Lahti Chamber Choir and Lahti Symphony Choir. An exceptional choral collaboration that brings together a sufficiently large performance apparatus for this magnificent masterwork.

Around 150 singers take to the stage to perform one of music history's greatest works together with the Lojo City Orchestra and two world-class soloists. Soprano soloist is Tuuli Takala and Arttu Kataja performs the bass parts.

Conductor is Jani Sivén. So it promises to be an evening out of the ordinary.

Ein deutsches Requiem is a gigantic work composed between 1865 and 1868. It consists of seven movements and lasts approximately 80 minutes.

The work is sacred but not liturgical. The focus lies on comfort for the living, not on prayers for the dead.
