About the event
From the organiser, as published on Ticketmaster.
On 12 June 2027, the Cirque Royal will welcome Youssoupha in a stage creation as ambitious as it is moving, where rap dialogues with gospel and symphonic music. This concert is first and foremost a meeting between a rapper, a pianist, a choir and an orchestra, conducted by Olivier Koundouno.
It is also a meeting between several musical styles: rap, gospel and so-called music. Carried along by the socially engaged lyrics of Franco-Congolese rapper Youssoupha, the choir members and instrumentalists bring to life the arrangements created by the orchestra conductor, Olivier Koundouno.
At the crossroads of film music and grand opera but without abandoning anything of rap, whose taste for sampling he has preserved, the composer and arranger has orchestrated an original score, devoid of pre-recorded sequences, of deejays and rhythmic sets (drums, bass), in order to allow rubato to express itself, to the benefit of phrasing. And that is without counting the presence, at the keyboard, of Manu Sauvage!
So many ingredients brought together for this... experience!
