The Toronto Artists Symphony Orchestra presents an extraordinary evening of orchestral and piano masterpieces featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Sofia Gulyak, one of the most distinguished pianists of her generation and winner of numerous international awards. This captivating program brings together some of the most beloved works from the classical repertoire, highlighting the music of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.
The evening also features the Suite from The Red Detachment of Women, one of the most celebrated and recognizable works in Chinese musical culture. Based on the landmark ballet of the same name, the suite tells a powerful story of courage, determination, and social change.
Its memorable themes, vibrant orchestral colors, and dramatic energy have made it a beloved favorite throughout China and among audiences around the world. The work remains an important symbol of Chinese artistic heritage and continues to be performed by orchestras internationally.
