Music by Kevin Puts | Libretto by Mark Campbell Live transmission: March 20, 2027, 11:00 (Mexico City) Silent Night, Kevin Puts's Pulitzer Prize-winning opera with libretto by Mark Campbell, is inspired by the 1914 Christmas truce, when enemy soldiers suspended the horrors of the First World War for a moment to sing and exchange gifts. Based on the film Joyeux Noël, the work has been celebrated for its powerful humanity and emotional strength.
The Met presents a striking production by James Robinson, which will transport us to the front lines. With Elza van den Heever, Ben Bliss and Rolando Villazón.
