ABENI HAYNES gives a stunning command performance of Beah Richards writing that confronts the ways Black women are viewed and controlled by both racist and patriarchal systems. Her work moves between anger, humor, sexuality, spirituality, historical memory, and resistance.
She refuses to reduce Black womanhood to victimhood but rather claims the authority to define herself, her body, history, and her humanity.
