About Boston Symphony Orchestra
Boston Symphony Orchestra is an American symphony orchestra based in Boston and the second-oldest orchestra in the United States. Founded by Henry Lee Higginson in 1881, the BSO performs most of its concerts at Boston's Symphony Hall and spends summers at Tanglewood. The organisation also oversees The Boston Pops, established in 1885 to perform lighter music, which maintains its own schedule and musical director while drawing predominantly from BSO musicians.
