With ten Grammy Awards and considered one of the most brilliant Cuban musicians of our time, Arturo Sandoval arrives at Lunario. A virtuoso of the trumpet and flugelhorn, as well as pianist, percussionist, composer and tireless innovator, Sandoval presents his most recent album in Mexico, Sangú.

On this record he projects his sound towards the future, whilst honouring the roots that shaped him: Afro-Cuban percussion, musical tradition rooted in Yoruba, bebop, funk and folklore, with an electrifying spirit of risk that has led him to collaborate with a constellation of music figures, from Dizzy Gillespie, Stevie Wonder and Celia Cruz to Ariana Grande.

About Arturo Sandoval

Arturo Sandoval is a Cuban-American jazz trumpeter, pianist, timbalero and composer. Influenced by Charlie Parker, Clifford Brown and Dizzy Gillespie whilst in Cuba, Sandoval met Gillespie in 1977, who became his friend and mentor. With Gillespie's assistance, Sandoval defected from Cuba whilst touring with the United Nations Orchestra and became an American naturalised citizen in 1998.
