About Pixies
Pixies are an American alternative rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1986. The original lineup of Black Francis, Joey Santiago, Kim Deal and David Lovering established a distinctive sound characterised by dynamic "loud-quiet-loud" shifts and unconventional song structures. Drawing on punk rock and surf rock influences, the band became central to the 1990s alternative rock boom. Black Francis's surreal songwriting explores offbeat subjects including extraterrestrials, incest and biblical violence, creating a uniquely provocative musical experience.
